The quality of sound is never as critical as it is before the attentive patrons of the hit songwriter. These audience members are taking music appreciation way beyond simply hearing a live rendition of their radio favorite. They've come to hear the subtle nuances of how the emotion was initially crafted by the original creator his or herself. They want to hear the tiniest detail, the slightest variance from the radio hits, those in-the-now moments that distinguish present experience from replay. That's why when Nashville's top songwriters are performing at prestigious downtown venues such as Puckett's Grocery, they always ask the same question: "Will Ricky be running sound?" ![]() Hey! Who's that unbelievably famous guitar player in this picture? And who's that guy on the left? :) Me (I'm not really that short!) and James Otto January 27th Live at Pucketts Thanks Pamela Pelham! _____________ Why exactly is Ricky the Sound Guy behind the console for Nashville nobiles like Byron Hill (the Gambler) or Leslie Satcher (Bed of Roses)? One word: precision. Sound check just verifies the equipment's hot. Once we're on, your performance is also my performance - you don't get a moments hesitation and niether do I. While you're delicately weaving emotion, words, and dynamics for your audience, I'm just as craftily guiding that expression through to finish. I'm anticipating your next move while driving your last one, second to second; I'm another member of the band. And it just gets better. The more you and I collaborate, the more experience and memory I cultivate to engineer your every performance to the fullest. What does it cost to get Ricky the Sound Guy and when do I book him? As a performer, the things that matter to me are 1) keeping the wood sound in the guitar, 2) getting the monitors/stage volume right. Your guy Ricky was really, REALLY good." Thanks Byron!! | Fans impatiently waiting for that live album release? Know exactly how you want your song produced and just not getting it out of the music row quickie system? Perhaps you've got a few tracks that you're ready to put a polished remix or master on. Maybe you just need to rent an engineer for your home studio. Well look no further friend, it's Ricky the Sound Guy!
No, really. Why do you want me to record instead of, say, your friend and his iphone, your four-track, or any of the other 31,257 times twenty nine professional studios out there? It's simple. 1) I can. 2.) I have a history of doing so with positive results. 3.) I am affordable. I work with the simplest, strongest, modern technology available to ensure minimal margin for error and best results without being superfluous. How so? 1. I rarely buy new equipment. I believe equipment is part of the instrument set, and like all instruments, the more often tried, the better. This principle keeps value in our possessions from becoming wasteful by tossing old equipment in favor of new. It also conserves energy by not generating packaging waste. It keeps jobs in the service industry and not the manufacturing industry, further promoting conservation. 2. I thoroughly investigate all options along the line between your output and mine, from hardware to software, line to computer, and product history. This ensures I am staying up to date with the best of the strongest systems of recording available. In other words, I'm not using outdated equipment or ignoring upcomming data, or expeding resources (increasing the cost arbitrarily) on newest without good cause. Providing an example of stability is the greatest gift one can give to one's cause. We are all together in the cause of entertainment distribution. 3. I have standards that your patronage of my talent supports. I do not record information that is derogatory, improperly offensive or misleads the public. I believe participating in the distribution of hateful music is to celebrate hate itself, which is contrary to my position as a do-gooder. *Pfft!* 4. Supporting me supports my life. I don't smoke cigarettes, drink achohol, eat animal products or artificial foods. I exercise daily. I help those in need. I put myself first to the task, last to the reward. I choose paths that support freedom of me, and freedom of you. I say please and thank you. I see the best in all of us, and that's why I capture and deliver the best in you. _____________ In the Studio Now R O D   L U N N ![]() _____________ FOX News Reaffirms RON PAUL WINS TN STRAW POLL but TRA holds second members only vote to claim endorsement of Rick Santorum ![]() I too support Ron Paul! Itoo is adding a catalogue of our production work, description of services and multimedia presentations. Check back for more updates or call Ricky for further information! 615.668.0808 And now, a self-gratuitous collection of art by Itoo! February 7, 2012. I almost jogged a full mile uninterupted at the track! Either way, I completed about 75-80% by jogging, and limited the walking steps. It was good. My feet became flippers suctioned to the pavement, and I could smile! I've been noticing that whenever I let my body know it needs to do whatever level I push it to, it responds the next day by being that ready plus about 25%. That's a pretty nice response. How many bodies can you get to respond to you 50% of the time? ...100%? Know any 110%s? Now, the 125%. And it's you. What a gift! Yesterday I sent off two e-mails to people I don't know. One was the group of Tennessee representatives, and the second the Whole Foods grocery store either in general or specifically in Franklin. It seems to go to a general call center, but when it comes back it's always from the Franklin store itself. I changed my method of general purpose e-mails to strangers: treat them as if speaking directly to God. Be kind, friendly, a pleasure. Be somehow, anyhow, an experience of joy, a burst of love, a carebear stare - - and the e-mail is more likely to be responded to. Not because the receivers intentionally do not respond non-joyful e-mails, but, because non-joyfulness by its very nature is just harder to respond to. Its too dull. If you want someone to toss the ball back, you have to toss it out. Just standing from where you are shouting isn't giving them anything to do back, and the stronger they are, the less likely they will respond at all. There's just no place for non-joyfulness in their lives. This, to me, is to imagine God as God would be - the living embodiment of joy, love. Because the person is a vessel of God, he or she is nearly impossible to bring down. Since yelling, meanness, blame, treating someone in any way other than worthy of your highest character, all happen at that slow, sludgy, yucky wavelength of walking through tar, while the lightfooted of God can't even see you as they go leaping past. You're just too dim all smudged in grudge. So, radiate love! To try it, just suddenly in your thoughts decide that the other person is God. God is everything you dream of. Fall in love with God. Then, mirror your vision, become what you see. Working on the signs. Itoo out. February 5, 2012. I did an hour of intense yoga, then continuously jogged in place the equivalent of 3.6 miles, or both conditions of 4800 steps and 40 minutes, $0 (HEALTH) Fueled by 1 pear, 5 clementines and fast dance music, $1.25 Man, I had so many great ideas for the signs! February 5, 2012. This song comes on a lot, so I stopped to read the lyrics. Then, I watched this video while it played. At the end, after a random assortment of scattered, rapid thoughts, and tearing, a strange emotionally charged thought takes the center stage: Why would you take something from someone, that they love more? What the crap does that even mean! The implications of such a thought are tremendous. It implies we could even judge who does or doesn't love something more, or judge who is taking and who is giving independently. And then, that we could even explain it as if any explanation deserved precedence over the infinite many possibilities? Maybe the real sentence is: Would you take something from someone, that they love more? Well now the trouble is, who am I to predict. The assertion of any "would" you inquiry is that you have some choice in the matter, and further, that you know it. Otherwise, how could you predict if you would or not? Second, by what measure do you come to your conclusion? Did you say, "No I would not" because you thought of how often you had foreseen greater love and robbed it or how many things you can think of that you did not take AND someone else loves more? I bet this sentence can be turned inside out, backways and foreways and never reach a good way to suggest what its suggesting. Poor emotion, what a burden to be so limited by verbal language! Or is the real trouble that questions denote logic, and feeling is rather a "yes" or a "no". It's better expressed in affirmations or negations, "I only accept what I love," positive and "I deny what I do not love," negative. This isn't the same as the question, though, which had all these extra details about what prior knowledge and/or skills at self-assessment you possessed. It is simply a yes/no general purpose statement, that should, either way, answer the more specific question when tested. ...depending on your strength of character...! past entries |
